LIQUID BREAKS!!!
3 RECS -ALL PROMOTING SOME SORT OF LIQUID - AND ALL WITH BREAKS!!!
SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER AND WE ALL HAVE FELT THE NEED FOR A COLD DRINK ....OR THE NEED TO SMELL A LITTLE BETTER....
DONTFAKETHEBREAKS is showcasing three 7"s promoting some sort of liquid with a little help from the funk and especially BREAKS!!!!.
HERE GOES!!!
First of we have a Coca Cola promotion 7" with a funky B-side featuring the Ivor Raymonde Orchestra "the real thing".
Released in 1971 on the "coca cola label"
heavy big band funk fanfare tune with a super dope break.
To my knowledge this was only released in the UK and was only for promotional use and not for sale.
Both sides were used by DJ Shadow on his Product Placement album and also comped on the Planet Of The Breaks series.
In the soundclip provided I have put an extended part of the break for you to enjoy!
Next up is a wierd one!! this 7" was given away in 7eleven stores back in 1967 as an advert for their new product "THE SLURPEE" On A-side we have the tune "Dance the Slurp" which actually is more odd than it is funky. Also a "fanfarish" kind of tune. However I have never heard a break like the one you hear on this -with straw-slurping sounds playing the percussive part in the break. So funny!!
I have extended and put the break at the begining at the soundclip before the tune begins.
No info about the band on this one - perhaps they have reunited to do a "2012 SLURP TOUR".....

On B-side there is some very weird people telling about how they improoved their lives by drinking "The Slurpee"
DJ Shadow also promoted this on the release "product placement"
Just dug this one up as if it was meant to be part of this "liquid breaks" theme of today...
Last but not least we have a LanCome advert record promoting their new scent "Magie Noire" on a double-sided picturedisc.....
Its actually a mini album on a 7" at 33rpm. Released in the late 70s I think -it Features a lot of loungish easy listening (boring) tunes - but suddenly the track "A tune for everyone" pops up!!!
Done by "The Syd Dale Orchestra". Syd Dale is was a studio musician mostly known for his work at the Library Label KPM. "A tune for everyone" is kind of a sleezy jazzfunk track starting off with a break and then the flute blends in -the tune could just as well have been featured on some of the KPM releases and is really the standout track on this one. Never tried the scent promoted, but it sure did fine with such a cool tune!!!
Again to emphasize the break on this - it is extended and put in the beginning of the clip..
ENJOY.....
Also known as Life Of Luxury by James Clarke on KPM 1180 Teder Emotions!!!!! nice Find
