CHARLY ANTOLINI "ATOMIC DRUMS" LP
KRAUT FUNK - KILLER BREAKS N GROOVES!!
TOP RARE GROOVE MONSTER FROM GERMANY!!! Swiss born drummer Charly Antolini went to paris in the 50s and played with Sidney Bechet and Bill Coleman among others... Later on back in Germany he played in big bands with among others the famous Peter Herbolzheimer. This release from 1972 has himself as bandleader. Without a doubt his best solo release of Euro-funk albums. Beats is simply allover this masterpiece. Heavy breaks, basslines and percussion on this one!! If you do not know this -your face will melt when you hear these blazin beats and grooves througout the album!! from the midtempo bassline groove-intro in "Nofretete´s headache" to the bangin break at the beginning of the uptempo-afroish track "Uela Uela" which also has some crazy break inside the track. "Jumping" is definately worth mentioning if not for its archetype break in the intro then for its agressive blaxploitation-ish clavinet-theme!!!
An instrumental album with rich arrangements, numerous breaks -and its flirting with rock elements such as distorted guitars without ruining the whole euro-funk feel. I say a German version of the best EL CHICLES sessions. If you are a producer you should sit up and take note. This will blow your mind. Just dug this copy up in NM condition except for a promo punched hole in the cover.....
Enjoy!!
