THE JUDGE´S NEPHEWS "LOS SOBRINOS DEL JUEZ" LP
MASSIVE AFRO-LATIN FUNK TRACK ON THIS ONE!!
I think their whole name actually is "The judge´s nephews - los sobrinos del juez" and there is no album title -not sure. But Im sure that this will appeal to you if you are into the latin/funk genre!!!
The album opens with the Monster uptempo track : "Harina de maiz" !!!!
Wah Wah guitar all over and an organ played with an afro-ish feel. If you like Manu dibangos "soul makossa" I think you will nod your head to this too!!
The album was released on the Miami label "Audio Latino" Label in 1974.
The rest of the album does not reach the same level as "Harina de maiz" if you looking at it from a "funk-angle". The tracks are more like latin "crooner" tracks - "Corned beef hash" is also is a good track with a funky carateristic intro-theme - but stays more in the easy latin-jazz vein with a vibraphone workout.
I think I got the original as it is the US-pressing from 74. but to my knowledge it also exits in brazil, venezuela etc. pressings.

  1. Their name is Sobrinos Del Juez - they were a Miami, Florida Band. That is the US original. There's another LP with exactly the same name from 1976 and a funky disco 12" from 1978. Probably more good tracks on the 1976 LP, including a cover of a track by Brazilian funk masters Antonio Carlos E Jocafi. I imagine they had some minor success in Brazil, hence that cover (Antonio Carlos E Jocafi were well-known artists and songwriters for others in Brazil)wand the Copacabana releases of both LPs.

    Drabman.
